Built in 1922, the hulking form of the Yallourn Production Centre administrative building now stands derelict and empty. Simultaneously beautiful and ugly, it exists as the last remnant of an earlier period of optimism and industrialisation. Overshadowed by the monolithic chimneys of the newer power plant nearby, after a short-lived reincarnation as a nightclub (and rumoured brothel), it now stands like an oversized headstone memorialising an era of growth and decay.
